Working from Home Mum
Working from home is not ‘an easy option’ as so many seem to think. Home has all the daily distractions that can draw you away from your online tasks for hours at a time. In my life my family comes first and work is secondary, but on the other hand if I don’t work there is no money in the kitty for the daily needs. So there has to be a timetable of sorts, that dictates what is done and when.
This week’s timetable has been disrupted by unforseen family matters and work has taken second place, but as we drift back into normality then we get back to structured work times.
There is designated area in the house which is dedicated to ‘office like’ features, desk, pc’s, phone etc. It is solely used for ‘office like’ activities and not disturbed which means work can be left and returned to without fear of obliteration. This I feel is very important as one cannot forsee all events and disruptions in a home, even visitors can at times be annoying when your brain is tuned in and focused on a task.
This week this sacred ‘out of bounds’ space has been my saviour as I have been able to return to my work just as I left it.
Working from home has to be flexible but it also means that you have to be very disciplined and focused and have your ‘Business GOAL’ firmly planted in your brain.
