Tropical Wings
Tropical Wings is such a wonderful name for a zoo based in South Woodham Ferrers in Essex. providing a truly unique experience for any child, or adult for that matter, interested in wildlife. There is certainly a lot to see.
Tropical Wings Zoo
Tropical Wings Zoo is situated between Southend and Chelmsford in Essex. As you enter the zoo you get the feeling that it is mainly aimed at children, and judging by my grandsons reaction the owners have done a good job. Its pleasantly laid out with paths and walkways with a surprise around every corner.
Tropical Wings Butterfly House
One of the first attractions one encounters at the zoo is the Butterfly House. When you first step inside it takes your breath away to see all the butterflies flying free in a warm tropical atmosphere among the vast array of tropical plants. In the midst of all this is a large water area for carp just waiting to be fed. This was the best bit as far as my grandson was concerned, be could feed the fish and watch them fight for the food pellets.
Capturing images of the butterflies was not one of the easiest tasks as the butterflies flit from place to place and seemed often disturbed by the numerous visitors. It was a real honour and pleasure to see one or two land close by, close enough to quickly take a shot.
