Trip to the Zoo
On of those wonderful things to do with children is to take them on a trip to the zoo. Children are absolutely fascinated by animals. I have found that by introducing them to my children, and now my grandson, at an early age they grow to love and not fear them. Just watch their faces light up when they see their first elephant or giraffe!
With a wall to wall sunshine day forecast we took our young grandson on a trip to the local zoo. The local zoo to us is at Colchester in Essex. I had not been to Colchester zoo since my children were little and was really amazed at the changes.
Colchester Zoo
Colchester Zoo begun its life way back in 1963 and we must have visited the Zoo with our children sometime around the late 8o’s or 90′s. What started out as Stanway Hall Zoo Park, is today a prestigious and important Conservation center with breeding programmes for endangered species, one of the finest in Europe. I was extremely impressed with what the owners have done to provide the very best enclosures for the animals. Many enclosures provide the animals with the correct atmospheric conditions that they would be accustomed to if they were living in the wild. Wonderful for the animals concerned and an amazing experience for the visitors, big or small!! My grandson was overawed especially by the submersive enclosure where you stand amid the swimming seals!
We will definitely be going again to Colchester Zoo!
